Our schools are preparing drive through and in school orientation sessions for students and their families the days leading up to the first day of Learning@Home on Tuesday, September 8.

Below is a list of schools. Click on the school name to view the plan for that school. If no information is listed, please check back later for updates.

Central Elementary

Monday, August 31st:4th Grade, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade 10:00-12:00 and 5:00-7:004th and 2nd Upper Loop, 1st Bottom Loop

Tuesday, September 1st:3rd Grade and Kindergarten 10:00-12:00 and 5:00-7:00, 3rd Upper Loop, Kindergarten Bottom Loop

Wednesday, September 2nd:5th -6th Grade 10:00-12:00 and 5:00-7:00, 5th Upper Loop, 6th Bottom Loop

Thursday, September 3rd:Chromebook Pickup and Packets for Appointment Times only

Friday, September 4th:Chromebook Pickup and Packets for Appointment Times only

Tuesday, September 8th:Chromebook Pickup and Packets by Appointment Time Only, Virtual Open House with Students and Families, Two Time Slots: 10:00-11:00 and 6:00-7:00

*Preschool Pickup will be all week by scheduled appointment with Ms. Brummett

Dewitt Elementary

-The school will be contacting parents this week to let them know when they are scheduled to come in for orientation. If you need a make-up time or transportation please let us know.

-Stay in the vehicle upon arrival.

-Arrive at designated time.

-The student will meet their teacher and become familiar with the online platform and Google Suite.

-Students will be assigned a device if needed and parent/guardian will complete enrollment and technology release forms.

- The School will provide video links with instructions and information for logging into Google Classroom.

-Teachers will be available each day to help guide students through use of Google Classroom. They can be contacted via email or by calling the school each day if you have questions.

-Chromebooks will be delivered to homes on Friday, September 4, to families that were not able to attend orientation.

Flat Lick Elementary

-The school will be calling homes the week of 8/24, if you need a make up time please let us know then. If you need transportation please let us know then. To help if you have multiple children please let us know, we can gather materials for all of them so you only have to come 1 time.
-Buses will enter in front of the building, cars will enter in the back (Same as regular school day)
-Please stay in vehicle.
-Please arrive at designated times or just after not early (staff will be bringing materials out by grade).
-Students will be assigned a device if needed and parent/guardian will complete enrollment forms, students will be given workbooks for Reading and Math.
- School will provide video links with instructions and information for logging into Google Classroom. Each teacher will be doing a “Meet and Greet” video for their class.
-Teachers will be available each day to help guide students through use of Google Classroom. They can be contacted via email or by calling the school each day if you have questions.

G.R. Hampton Elementary

Our school will be accepting appointments from families to come to school. We are permitting three students and three parents during each time slot in each teacher's classroom.

Slots on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will range from 8:30-3:30.On Tuesday and Thursday time slots will be available from 1:00-7:30.

This will allow us to accommodate out working parents. This also will keep is around 10% occupancy.

Rooms will be sanitized between each group. Temperatures will be checked upon arrival. One way traffic flow signs will be implemented and followed as well as specific entry and exit doors.

During this time teachers will communicate all expectations with them. Parents will be able to ask questions, log into google classroom, and other getting started information.

Jesse D. Lay Elementary

Chromebooks will be issued to families in need on Aug 26-28 from 3:00 p.m. until 6 p.m. daily. (See schedule below)

Support staff will be used to complete the Chromebook handout. Tables will be set up on the front porch of the school and parents can come to the table based on grade and be issued a Chromebook.

Staff will document the parent name, student name, grade, homeroom teacher, and Chromebook number.

Parents will sign an electronic user agreement and schedule a day and time to come to Classroom Orientations. Students will be issued a Chromebook from the homeroom teachers Chromebook cart. Parents will also be given instructions on how to access google classroom, and login info for their child(ren).

Wednesday, Aug 26: Grades PreK-1

Thursday, Aug 27: Grades 2-4

Friday, Aug 28: Grade 5-6

Knox County Middle

Tuesday, September 17th grade from 10 to 6pm.

Wednesday, September 28th grade from 10 to 6pm.

Thursday, September 3Make-up day from 3-7pm

During this time, students will receive Chromebooks, schedules and important information about Learning@Home. A parent or guardian who can sign the student paperwork must accompany student.

Please be patient, as it will take a couple of minutes per car due to paperwork that will need to be signed.

Drive-through Location:
You will enter from Sycamore Drive and turn behind the building at the Old Rock Gym across from the Football Field. Pull up to the back doors of the New Gym. There will be signs posted with directions. You will exit through the Gym parking lot on to North Main Street.

For students who need assistance after picking up Chromebooks:Parents will be able to call and make appointments for in-person help for their student starting on September 2-4th. Students may also use the resources that are provided by each team to contact teachers to receive any help that may not require in-person assistance. This will be for students that are experiencing trouble with Google Classroom Log-ins and Assignments.To make an appointment call KCMS @ 606-545-5267

Knox Central High

Orientation dates will be Monday August 31st – Thursday September 3rd. Students will report based on an assigned date by their last name.Monday Aug. 31st Last name starting with A – DTuesday Sep. 1st Last name starting with E - KWednesday Sep. 2nd Last name starting with L – QThursday Sep. 3rd Last name starting with R – ZOrientation will start at 4 p.m. and finish at 6 p.m. Doors at Knox Central will open at 3:30 p.m. Student will need to be at the orientation the whole time.Students will enter through the main entrance of the building and the gym lobby based on their last names. All persons entering the school should wear a mask.Parents should enter the building with their child to sign the Chromebook deployment policy. Parents are not required to attend the orientation; however, administration will be available to address any specific questions parents may have.Upon arrival students will go through a health screening and be issued a Chromebook. Students will then report to their iLEAD classroom.While in iLEAD students will receive the necessary information to be successful while Learning@home (email address, schedule, log in to email, log in to google classroom, expectations, grading policy, etc.).After the iLEAD time, students will meet each of their classroom teachers and discuss the course and specific classroom expectations.Students who do not have a class on their schedule for a specific period should report to the cafeteria at that time. The guidance office will address the schedule gap at that time.After visiting all classes, students will exit the building through designated areas in an effort to minimize congregating.If you are unable to attend orientation, please contact the school at 606-546-9253 to schedule an appointment.

Lynn Camp Elementary

Parents will drive up and be met by staff. The staff will be a mixture of instructional aides, other program staff, and grade level teachers. The parents will progress through the system while staying in their vehicle.

There will only be parents and students out of their vehicle if they need a Google Classroom Tutorial.

This will be an opportunity for teachers to directly meet and talk to their students/parents. If the student is receiving technology, the technology will be assigned. While technology is being assigned, the parent and student will receive paperwork. This paperwork will include student schedule, classroom codes, technology agreements, and other paperwork. If the student is not enrolled, or completed paperwork, then this is a time for that to occur. If registration paperwork is incomplete, the parent and student will be asked to complete that paperwork in their vehicle prior to receiving technology.

When the student receives their technology, we will ask them to login and access their Google Account. If the student, and/or parent is unable to use/access Google Classroom, there will be a technology table set up where one of our technology gurus will offer them a short course.

The number of parents/students will be limited to the number of stations available.
